Spring Waters Nigeria Limited (SWAN) was incorporated in 1981 and commenced commercial production of Natural Spring Water in December 1983 with the brand name SWAN, as the pioneer brand of bottled water in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.

SWAN was set up in partnership with Evian International of Sovetec, France by Nigerian industrialists. In 1988 Exims AG Zug Switzerland acquired the interest of Evian in the company. Exims divested its holdings in the company to UAC of Nigeria Plc in 1996.

UAC of Nigeria Plc (UAC) is a leading diversified company with over a century of operation in Nigeria and operates in the manufacturing, services, logistics and warehousing and real estate sectors of the economy.  Spring Waters Nigeria Limited with its factory at Kerang in Mangu LGA of Plateau State thus became a subsidiary of UAC of Nigeria Plc in 1996.

UAC strategically re-aligned its two water businesses in 2009 by undergoing an administrative management merger of SWAN and Warm Spring Waters Nigeria Limited (bottler of Gossy Warm Spring Water).though the two companies will still exist independently, they now operate under one management with the objective of unlocking the synergy in their operations and markets as well as improvement in efficiencies and profitability. This initiative is already yielding positive outputs in both the internal and external operations of the businesses.
